Amazing flight and fantastic scenery

“After reading on trip advisor about both the trek (to the wineglass bay lookout and the beach) and people’s disappointment with the view when they got there, we started to research other options. We came across the great reviews for the 45min scenic flight over Wineglass bay and the Freycinet Peninsula with Freycinet Air, called up, asked a few questions and decided to treat ourselves by making a booking a few days in advance. We set the alarm clocks and dragged my teenage girls up early to make the 2hrs and 20mins drive up from Hobart to Freycinet for a 9am take off. Believe you me it was worth it! The views were amazing, the plane was super smooth in the early morning light winds and our pilot, Pascal, was both a great pilot and super informative. We landed with bucket loads of brilliant photos of both Wineglass Bay and the whole peninsula, as well as a lifetime of memories.”

Freycinet is proud to consistently receive a Trip Advisor ‘Certificate Of Excellence’, we enjoy reading positive feedback and our pilots thoroughly enjoy showing off what Tasmania’s East Coast has to offer!

Why choose Freycinet Air

Best views

It’s no secret that an aerial view is often the best way to see an area.

This couldn’t be more true about Wineglass Bay and Freycinet Peninsula.

Even if you have the time and fitness to climb Mount Amos, Freycinet or Graham, you will still only see a fraction of the views experienced on our flights.

Local knowledge

Our pilots all have a vast knowledge of the area.

Not only will they provide commentary of what you are seeing, they are able to answer any questions you may have!

Amazing scenery

Wineglass Bay is often ranked one of the best beaches in Australia.

Passengers are blown away by the amazing coastline that Tasmania’s East Coast has to offer. You will be taking photos the entire time!

Our pilots hold a CASA Commercial Pilots Licence and are all checked at our airport before they are allowed to fly with passengers.

Safety is our number one priority. If weather on the day is unsafe we change the time or day of the booking. If cancellation is necessary due to weather there is no fee!

We can offer suggestions for other activities in the area which aren’t weather dependant.

Our FAQs

Is flying in a small aeroplane or helicopter safe?

Absolutely. We operate both single engine and twin engine aeroplanes, and a turbine helicopter.

All of our aircraft adhere to a strict CASA maintance schedule. Regular servicing is conducted by a Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

There is a specified time interval (based on either flight hours or years) for when most aircraft parts must be overhauled or replaced. To put it simply – things are replaced well before they are worn out!

Are your aircraft comfortable inside?

There is sufficient legroom for people of just about any height in our aircraft.

While some aircraft provide more space than others, once the seats are adjusted to a suitable position it is a comfortable ride.

Can I rent out the entire aircraft?

We offer the option of paying extra to have the entire aircraft to yourself. People may choose this option to guarentee the best viewing seats, more room to move (with the option of removing seats), or privacy.

Over the years there have been many marriage proposals on our aircraft, we are more than happy to help out however we can!

Do you have EFTPOS facilities?

Yes, we accept all cards except AMEX.

Can I pre-pay for the flight?

If you would like to pre-pay, please contact us and we can process an over-the-phone payment. Otherwise, payment on the day is fine.

Are walk-ins welcome?

We always try to accommodate walk-ins for people who decide last minute.

We recommend booking in advance to save disappointment or waiting around for a while, we can suggest activities to fill in time if necessary.

We have a few different aircraft so we are usually able to book flights at short notice.

How early should I arrive?

Please arrive 15 minutes early for paperwork and a pre-flight briefing so we can run on time.

What should I wear and bring?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and closed shoes.

Don’t forget to bring a pair of sunglasses and a camera (with a charged battery)!

If the weather is bad, will the flight go ahead?

We have legal requirements for wind, cloud base and visibility.

If the weather is not suitable, we will re-schedule your flight to a better time or day. We will try to give you as much notice as possible, to save you from driving us to be disappointed.

If cancellation is necessary, no payment is taken. We usually take payment on the day of the flight, to keep things simple.

How much notice should I give if we can't make it?

Please give us as much notice as possible, as last minute cancellations may upset our schedule. At least 24 hours is appreciated.
